Dixie Beaton
March 8, 1947 - November 28, 2022
Dixie Beaton, age 75, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma (JaBa), and friend, passed away on November 28, 2022 after battling a lung infection and pneumonia. Born on March 8, 1947 in Spokane, Washington to C. Robert Downey and Marguerite Swisher Downey. Dixie married the love of her life, George Beaton on September 24, 1966. They moved to Utah in 1972 and were longtime residents of Murray.
Dixie loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a gift of gab and always made people feel happy. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, finding a good bargain, and getting dressed-up. She never left the house without her lipstick and earrings on and always reminded her daughters to do the same. Her grandchildren will remember all the things she did to make them feel special. She filled our lives with compassion, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her husband George; daughters Brenda (Kelly Siwachok) Beaton and Bridgit (Andrew) Watt; grandchildren Ryan and Madeleine Watt; and sister Barbara (Gary) Coyer. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Judy Downey.
Services will be on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 Spring Lane, Holladay, Utah, with a lunch reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be gifted to Catholic Community Services or a charity of your choice.
