In Loving Memory

I'm kind of in a weird State tonight because I lost and celebrated the life of a good friend among other good friends. Not to go all Dances with Wolves on your asses, but, "Al Chapa you were my friend! You will always be my friend!" "And I don't know if you knew what kind of a hero you were to me. You had such a natural grace and charm and ease with other people. You were the epitome of my high school hero, coseying up to beautiful girls like Lenna Smock and putting your arms so freely around her as you both sang Michelle Ma bell, with your heads together, in our history or sociology class. Whatever it was....... It was like watching a miracle worker show you how it's done." You had such natural charm, and interpersonal ease...and oh so smart. I don't remember a time being with Al that wasn't graceful and full of joy and fun...and wit. I have no bad memories of you my friend. You are a great guy and I'm sorry that I didn't have more time with you before you had to leave. That's all...just wish we'd hung out more. You were f****** awesome dude! ... and I say that without any degree of Shame. Fuckin awesome! I loved you Al! I keep you here and so fondly remembered in my heart and head. Thank you for all the good times your Grace...and Charm ... we must never forget the charm. ;) Please Raise whatever is currently getting you by, maybe even high, especially if you're dry, and that even more especially, given that going on currently...:P Please raise your whatever best suits you, even if a middle finger, to my good friend and the good friend of many others.... Al Chapa! :D <3 <3 You are my friend.

I have been a hardware associate with Al for over 3-1/2 years, living the "Orange Life" at the Home Depot. I'm glad to have known Al and consider him a good friend and associate. We enjoyed a regular banter about "What is the good word for today" or What do you know today? He was always knowledgeable and helpful if I needed help with a customer question. He will be missed, Till we meet again.

Losing Al is like losing a beloved brother. I feel like I have been an 'honorary' member of the Chapa family for almost 40 years, and Al was everyone's adorable and mischievous little brother. His wedding to Nubia was such a joyful day for all, and their love and dedication to one another was inspiring. My husband always stopped to chat with Al on his frequent trips to Home Depot, and he was just a kind, funny, loving brother. He will be so missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Fonso, let your light shine on, until we meet again...

I know I have only worked with Al since February at HD, but we always said Hi to one another when saw each other. I didn't get to know him well enough, but I'm glad I did get to meet him. He was friendly to everyone and professional in knowing what the customer was needing, he will be missed.

Love the Chapa family. Will miss that big bear hug at Home Depot. He would light up when I would ask about Nubia and Peter Jr................and when I told him that I had just seen Tillie, he would always smile! My deepest sympathy, may he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Nubia and all his family. Al was one of the kindest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. We worked together at Home Depot with our lockers side by side. He greeted me every day with a big hug and a genuine smile. We had many long talks which I will always cherish. I was blessed to know him and call him my friend.

It's never easy to see the good go, so soon. Al's kindness and light will be carried in the hearts of those he touched. I am thankful to have had a chance to work beside him, even if it was just a while. My heart is with your family at this time.

vernonia,
Al was just such a nice, kind man.. When we lived in Salt Lake City, I loved going into Home Depot and trading stories we both had in regards to little Peter who he just thought the world of. Our condolences and prayers are with your family....
