In Loving Memory
Gregory Hose made a huge impact on my life. I remember the first day I met him. After Mick Webb, another cherished West High math teacher, passed away, a class I was in fell into chaos while the school scrambled to find a new teacher. During this time the class slowed to a painful halt; it was a collection of anarchy and teen angst pitted against helpless substitute teachers. And then Mr. Hose walked in. With his steady demeanor and no-bullshit attitude, he turned everything around and brought a wonderful environment to a troubled bunch of kids. He was kind and stoic. He was funny and audacious. He saw the big picture when it came to his teaching and was as much a mentor to his students as he was a math teacher. Greg Hose is exactly who I aspire to become as I grow older. Though he may no longer be with us, Mr. Hose will forever live on in the example he set and the lives he impacted. I offer my condolences to his family and to every other student who learned as much as I did from this incredible man.

Dear Tina and Gary - Please accept my heartfelt condolences on Greg's passing. I really wanted to be at the memorial service but health issues prevented my ability to attend. Tina, give yourself a big hug from me and Gary, a strong handshake. I have lots of fond memories of the Hose Family during high school and after! I have lots of great memories of adventures (and misadventures) with Greg and sure miss him now and will miss him in the future. He touched many lives and hearts in his lifetime, and I was fortunate enough to have been his friend. Mr. Hose was my math teacher my Senior Year at Hillcrest High 97-98. He was the best for the job and amazing with all of us crazy teenagers. I will never forget him.

We had the great fortune of living next door to Greg for many years and knowing him as a neighbor and special friend. We spoke over the backyard fence everyday and spent time sitting in the backyard discussing life and politics and kids...He will always be a truly special person in our lives. He made such a positive impact on so many people, especially his students and also my 2 kids who are the same age as Kenzie, Nick and Elise. The world is most definitely a better place because of Greg. We celebrate a life well lived. Thank you Greg and rest in peace.

Mr. Hose was my unforgettable math teacher at Joel P. Jensen Middle School many years ago. He was one of my favorite teachers that truly had a passion for helping his students. Mr. Hose taught me AP Statistics at Hillcrest High. He was happy to be there with us. The room was always relaxed and felt fun (amazing considering the topic!). He taught us beyond the book. I know I am only one in a sea of thousands of students--thank you for sharing him with us.

Greg was my teacher at Valley and I was lucky enough to have him as my Math professor at the U. He was a great teacher and a wonderful man! He was full of encouragement and laughter! He was great with all of the students. I feel very lucky to have known him. I am truly sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed!

Mr. Hose was my sons Math teacher at West for the last 2 years. He was also my sons favorite teacher, ever.
It was with sorrow that our son told us of his passing. He will be greatly missed by the students but his influence will live on in the children that he has influenced. I know as a parent of one of those kids we thank him for every thing he did to help our son develop a love for math. Rest in Peace Mr. Hose we will miss you at the next Parent Teacher conference but you will definitely be in our thoughts.

Greg was a great man who cared passionately about students and the teachers in his department. He was funny and intense, laughed easily but never backed down from an argument when it came to defending students. I knew Greg as a friend and knew that he adored his daughter and loved Margery. I am grateful that he was surrounded by those who loved him and am grateful that I knew Greg, a man with a kind soul.

I'm not sure what I want to say, only that I have to. I am so sorry that you have lost such a wonderful brother and friend. It was such a long time ago that I knew Greg, mostly through the two of you, but not a nicer man comes to mind then when I think of Greg. I will never understand why such a great loss happens at such an early age, but I think your memories of him will live on forever. I look forward to seeing you, and wish you God's blessings.

I taught with him at West High. He did have sparking blue eyes, a ready smile. friendly, and was easy to talk to. He was a laid back guy and super cool. He'll be missed for sure. So sorry he had to go through so much pain and suffering. He certainly never deserved it.
