Paula brought together the art science of nursing with the diagnostic skills of a physician. In addition to her awesome diagnostic skills, she was able to use her nursing skills to reach into the heart of any issue you had. She would say, "now what is really bothering you?" and work through the psychological and emotional issues. She will be missed by her patients and friends. But she is in a better place, walking in the sunlight unfettered by tubes and wheelchairs. We need to celebrate this. Take care, my friend.

Today I opened A letter from U of U and read the saddest news I've hear in a long time. She has been my doctor for a couple of years. My last visit with her was Nov. 5, 2014, She was scolding me for not applying for disability. I responded to her with the same question. She was surprised and take my hand and looking into my eyes she told me that life for her was caring for people and her brain was still allowing her to do so. And then remind me about my disabilities. I miss her and will never be able to find a doctor like her. I am sure she will be watching over you two. God bless.

We became patients of Paula about four years ago. She was always very adept at diagnosis, and did all she could to get to the bottom of the problem. After running many tests on Ted it was determined he had pre-cancerous cells in his pancreas. It was removed at Hustsman cancer center 3 years ago this February. We consider his life as lengthened because of Paula's persistence. We were ill and couldn't attend Paula's service. We joked, sadly, that Paula wasn't here to address our illnesses. We loved Paula. She was compassionate, one of the best at diagnosis we had ever seen, and she was funny. What a joy it was to know her. Now we are left, bereft, wondering what we shall do without her. How can we ever find a doctor, a friend, a caring soul to ever replace her? We will miss you Paula. Love, Ted and Bebe Ottinger P.S. One of the nicest things anyone ever said to Ted was, "Thanks for not being boring".

My sister, my friend. How do we fill the hole in our hearts? I love you and will miss you in an indescribable way. Your generosity was something I'll never be able to comprehend, but then again, you mirrored your life after our Savior, Jesus. You are healed, my sis, not in the way we prayed for, but in the way our precious Father God deemed best. Sing to your hearts content, breathe deeply of heavenly air as you walk the streets of gold. Until you greet us at heavens gates, we hold you tight within our hearts. I love you, respect you and weep for the things unsaid...But God and His amazing Grace will carry me until I see you again. Your sister, Toni (toenail)

Paula took care of me and my Mom Betty. I didn't trust the medical field for a long time. Paula showed me that I could. I trusted her. She was a wonderful, careing and truely special person. She always took the time to listen and you could tell she realy cared. I made a rosary for her that I could see she loved. It made her smile and that made us smile. She is going to be greatly missed. Our sympathies are with you at this difficult time. She will be watching from a special place in Heaven.

Yesterday I found out that a dear mate of mine had passed away. Here is something that you don't know about me? I use the act of blowing soap bubbles as a sort of symbolic way to give things to God. So, last night a few hours after I found out about my friend, I went outside and blew bubbles as the snow was falling. It was so beautiful. To me very soothing, watching the bubbles dance in the light and hover and eventually fly away. It was so cold, but two of my best mates were out there with me, and that made it all the more meaningful to me. Just before we departed the snow, my mate Sas?.. said a prayer. When situations like this occur, I am reminded of all the wonderful people that have been and are still in my life. God is good and my friend is with Him now. Though I will miss her, I am also very happy for her. Sweet dreams Paula!! Paula had am amazing life. She could have given up at any moment and not many would criticize her. Yet, she pressed on. She and I shared so many God moments I can not number them all. She was needed here. She was wanted here. She was loved here. Miss you shooga! HUGS to you, and to all who need one now as I do. Paula touched the lives of so many people. I learned so much from her in regards to compassion during my years of working with her at Greenwood. She was always my go to provider when someone needed a listening ear. So many of her patients told me that she was their Godsend in terms of their healthcare. Paula, I will miss you always.

Paula you will be truly missed. You taught us all about the true love of nursing. You brought light to all of our lives at Greenwood. Jordan and I will miss your tight hugs and your love. Rest in peace. We love you. Dear Santina and Sophia, I received an email from Paula on Monday and she spoke of her two favorite people...you two. She absolutely adored you both and lived her life for you. My heart goes out to you and know she is close you always. Please let any of us know if you need anything. Love, Susan and Jordan Arellano
