Ralph H. Miller

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 heaven received its newest angel, Ralph H. Miller. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Born December 1st, 1925 in Park City, Utah at the Miners Hospital. He married his lifelong sweetheart, Janet A. Mitchell, in Elko, Nevada on November 16th, 1956. Ralph shared his childhood in Sugarhouse, Utah with six siblings. He attended South High School. While attending school at Westminster College, Ralph played basketball and was known as ‘Speedy Gonzales'. He often amazed his opponents as one of the first players to shoot the ball with only one hand. Ralph was featured in his college yearbook as ‘Mr. Personality'. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII in Hawaii from 1944 to 1946. Ralph later attended the University of Utah Law School, where he graduated with a J.D. in 1953.Ralph had a true love for the legal profession, devoting himself to a lifelong practice with the prestigious Fabian and Clendenin law firm, where his greatest joy was the camaraderie of his colleagues. He enjoyed a distinguished career, participated actively in the America Bar Association, and was listed in "Best Lawyers in America," from 1993-1996.  Ralph adored his wife Jan, with whom he traveled, played tennis and golf, and raised three children. They loved to dance the nights away to live music at the Fort Douglas Country Club. We know that Ralph and Jan dance on together now in Heaven.Honest, selfless and generous, Ralph was such a strong man. He was rock solid in his dedication to his family, friends and career. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Survived by sons Todd Miller (Deb) and Bart Miller (Debbie); daughter Holly Miller (P.R. Banks); sister Marjorie Elizabeth (Miller) Bigelow; grandchildren Parker Miller, Chris Puder (Anna), Claire Miller and Elise Miller; and brothers-in-law Howard Mitchell (Benita) and Ray Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 8th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Private family urn burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.
