Norma was born January 29, 1939, in Malmo, Sweden. On July 16, 2015, the spirits came and took our Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Best Friend away in Tucson, Arizona.

Norma married LaVerl Southworth on November 23, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had three children together, Carrie, Craig, and Cindy. They remained married for nearly 50 years when LaVerl passed away on November 21, 2006.

Norma worked for Industrial Supply in Salt Lake City for 30 years. She later worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield until she retired. She was a gifted artist, loved playing the piano, and was an expert shopper. She was known to have a green thumb, and her greatest joy was working in her beautiful garden.

In 2013, she met the love of her life Jack Hudson. They were like two giddy teenagers, which guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Together they sold both their homes in Salt Lake and moved to Tucson, Arizona. Jack treated her like gold and it showed.

Norma is survived by her sweetheart Jack Hudson; daughters Carrie  (Brent) Newbold, Cindy (Steve) Prestwich; son Craig (Karla) Southworth; sister Bonnie Barney in Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren Jared, Amber, Derrick and Devan Newbold, Katie and Stephanie Prestwich; several nieces and nephews; cousin/brother Ben Carlson; dear Arizona friend Leslee Jorgensen; and not to be forgotten her four legged Malti Poo Poo Bengy.

Norma had many pets throughout her life and has reunited with them all at the Rainbow Bridge. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite pet shelter or organization.

Special thanks to the staff at Tucson Medical Center and Peppe’s Hospice for their great care of our Mom even when distant family could not be there.

A celebration of her life will be held on August 1, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, causal dress is welcomed. Complimentary valet parking will be available at the north entrance
