Rebecca Louise Schnitz, 38, died August 28, 2014, of unknown causes while hospitalized for treatment of migraines.  She is survived by her beloved, Jason Shafer, her father James, her brother Benjamin, her sister-in-law Alana, and their son, Elliott; also, her stepmother Janet, her stepsisters Kathy, Christie and Carrie, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Marie Schnitz.

Born July 21, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas, she earned a Bachelors degree in Theater from the University of Evansville, where she became a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.  A beautiful, talented, highly intelligent young woman with a truly loving spirit, she loved to sing, play piano, read, and follow and comment on politics. She doted on her cat, Bandit.  She did arts and crafts, and was skilled at making jewelry.  She was also a sports enthusiast whose knowledge of and love for football, baseball and soccer often amazed those around her, and which led to one of her favorite experiences as a sportswriter at the University of Evansville.

Becky lived to help others.  She has worked as a drama coach, a teacher, in the admissions office at St. Josephs Villa, supporting the IHC Neuro Rehab Clinics program to study and reduce concussions in high school sports, and, at the time of her passing, as Coordinator of IT Service Delivery at Western Governors University, accomplishing all of this despite suffering debilitating migraines nearly every day.
