Harold Ferdinand Behling passed away peacefully on the evening of December 7th due to complications from a fall.

He was born in Ferron, Utah on October 9th, 1928, to Florence Hansen and William Ferdinand Behling and shared a wonderful childhood with his four siblings Louise, Bruce, Gerald, and Ann. He graduated from South Emery High then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a machinist and trainer. He later moved to Southern California where he met his sweetheart Jean Alice Grant. The couple married in 1956 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple in 1971. They moved several times between California and Ferron while raising five children Susan, Stewart (Lorraine), Jim (Sandy), Lisa (Ted), and Grant (Shelley). Later, he and Jean moved to Orem and eventually enjoyed retirement there. He also had a son Stephen and daughter Carolyn from a previous marriage to Mary Ivie.

Harold was an accomplished businessman and ran several successful businesses with Jean and his children by his side including a dairy, service stations, an auto parts store, and convenience stores. He was adept at fixing broken machinery and also enjoyed farming at several points during his career.

Harold was a strong man who loved his family and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents; brother Gerald, and wife Jean, who greeted him with open arms after their long separation.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 11th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with a memorial service beginning 7:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Interment and brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12th at Noon at the Ferron Cemetery, 200 North 300 East.
