Gary D Astill
In Loving Memory
I will be eternally grateful to Gary for saying yes to being a bishop! While at a crossroads in my young teenage life, Bishop Astill played a pivotal role in my conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He simply gave me some counsel, that I chose to follow. I did so, because I knew he cared about me. His words helped me to continue along the covenant path and to ultimately know the Church is true.
I also have many fond memories of wonderful youth firesides, open houses and of the baby shower held for me for my first child in their home! Gary and Dorothy, thank you for everything! Love you both! Rest in peace!
George and I will forever treasure our time we spent in the Grant 2nd Ward as a newly married couple. It was choice people like Gary and Dorthy Astill that we remember fondly. Gary always had a twinkle in his eye and a sense of humor like no other. We are so grateful for our association even though many years ago we are thankful for his and their influence in our lives. Gary was an amazingly kind neighbor. I have many fond memories and will share one of my favorites. I was up on a ladder installing a motion detector light on my garage when I saw him drive by in his blue Ford pickup. I was wondering how long it would take him to drive around the block and just then, he pulled into my driveway to check to make sure I was safe. He was the BEST! RIP Mr Gary.
Gary gave me the hand of his second daughter Anita. I will be forever grateful that she said yes to me. He was always loving kind and caring. A good man. He just wanted to pass on in his own house. And our merciful father let him do just that.
So sorry to hear about Gary he was a great guy and ice to have fun with him with we were kids sending prayers to the family.
