Cheryl Marie Hanzelka
Cheryl Marie Hanzelka left this world on Thursday, March 13th in her home that she loved in Killyons Canyon.
Cheryl was born with great strength and ambition on October 18th, 1965 to her parents Albert and Ruth Hanzelka, By 8 years of age she knew she would attend The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business. She later attended Texas Women's College and graduated with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Cheryl's spirit thrived in the outdoors and she eventually traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah where her love for nature flourished. She met her partner in life, love and happiness, Howard Ingle on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 1999 on the cross-country ski track at Mountain Dell. Through their relationship they shared a passion for all things in nature including: biking, gardening, bee keeping, creating their 'famous' Hanz-Ingle wine, backpacking in Southern Utah and skiing in Pinecrest even despite Cheryl's sensitivity and constant battle with the cold.
In every aspect of her life, Cheryl dedicated herself to others. She worked as an Occupational Therapist in Hand Specialty at the University of Utah and began teaching yoga to patients with osteoporosis at the Orthopedic Center. Cheryl cherished her daily meditation and shared that through communities in Salt Lake and most recently the Expanding Light Center at Anada Village.
She is survived by her parents Albert and Ruth Hanzelka; her sister Peggy and brother-in-law Chris Farley, her brother Albert Jr. and Terri Hanzelka, her sister Karen and brother-in-law Joe Matthews; her Godmother Ruby Hanzelka and Cheryl's fourteen nieces and nephews of whom she was so proud.
Her partner in life, love and happiness Howard Ingle and his children Pierce and Campbell whom she loved will miss Cheryl's wonderful and kind spirit.
Cheryl was a beautiful, loving and joyful person and will be remembered by her friends and family for her constant support, prayers and everyday selflessness and love.
A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Friday, March 21st from 11am until 2pm at Red Butte Gardens, 300 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, 84108. All friends and family are invited to join. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
