Frank surrendered his mortal existence enfolded in the love of his adoring family members on July 2, 2010. One of God’s faithful servants, he was graced with a merciful passing.
He was the oldest son of Italian immigrant father Bernardo Leone and Italian mother Gilda Jean Bisignano Leone. Frank was born on September 25, 1936, in Salt Lake City where he resided all his life. He was proud of his Italian heritage. He graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He served military duty in the Army National Guard. He continued his education at Northwestern and Stanford Universities where he received his Master’s degree in business. Frank was a well-known and respected mortgage banker. He excelled in his field and helped build Valley Mortgage into a premier mortgage company, from where he retired. He married Dena Kutulas and together they had three children; later divorced. Later married Jeanine Ferguson. They shared a special relationship and enjoyed traveling around the world together. They were fortunate enough to share their love and devotion with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved cheering on the Utes and golfing with buddies, especially his nephews Mike, Rick and Randy. Frank was charismatic and had a vibrant personality that made everyone feel as though they were his best friend. He had great relationships from all walks of life. He was interested in everyone, was curious about people and loved to ask questions and engage in conversations. Frank had a keen mind and enjoyed discussing politics, current events and sports. He was generous and genuine, strong-willed and meticulous. He loved to laugh and make others laugh and feel comfortable. More than anything, he loved to have fun.
He is survived by his wife Jeanine; children Linda Leone, Ann Marie Leone –Jack (Tyler), Mark (Tiffany) Leone, David (Shaunna) Brugger, Tami K. Sheppard; grandchildren Amy, Danielle, Nathan, Bryant, Sarah, Marcus, Michael, Anna, Dylan, John Franklin, Mary, Nicholas “Boo”; great-grandchildren Sam, Ella, Luke, Max; siblings Rosalie Jones, Sam D. Leone; and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Catherine Leone.
Friends may call upon Frank’s family at a wake on Wednesday, July 7th from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue & “T” Street.
