Ellen Mae Winders Bailey Petroni

Loving Mother

Ellen passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2010.

 She was born in March 21, 1922 in Desert Lake, Utah, the first of six children born to Maggie Mae Shurtz and John Vernal Winder.  She grew up in Desert Lake and went to school in Cleveland.  She married George Max Bailey and together they had six daughters.  George passed away of colon cancer at the young age of 54 in 1969.  She married Leonard Petroni in 1970; he preceded her death in 2009.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and the lost art of crafting crepe paper roses dipped in wax.  She also loved to dance and spent many years dancing with Leo at the Eagles.  Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family at Schofield Reservoir. 

She is survived by her daughters Maxine (Jim) Clark, LaRue Morrison, Joan Griffiths, Colleen (David) Smith, GeorgeAnn Selander, LeeAnn (Jack) Bain; sister Dollie McDonald; brother Jess (Gay) Winders; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Eva Leonard and Birdie Lou Hamp; brothers Bud Winders and Vernal Winders; brother-in-law Cardon McDonald.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 11th at 10:30 AM at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan.  Friends may call upon the family during a viewing on the same day from 9:00 until 10:00 AM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
