Patricia Ann Phelps

The world lost a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend when the Good Lord took Pat's hand and freed her from her pain and suffering on January 24th, 2010 in San Diego.

Pat was born in Chicago on July 30, 1952.  As a teenager her family moved to SLC, Utah.  She graduated from Olympus HS.  Pat married Richard Phelps on January 16th, 1976. They moved to So. California, making their home in San Diego.

Pat adored her time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, travel cruises, and card games.  She manifested a wonderful sense of humor and all who knew Pat can easily imagine her and her beloved Grandma Smith and Uncle Jack laughing, sharing jokes, and dancing the Irish Jig.  Pat never stopped loving and believing in the Chicago Cubs, thoroughly enjoying a trip to Chicago a few years ago to attend a game at Wrigley Field and dinner at Harry Caray's.

Knowing Pat made you happy and optimistic because her spirit was a wholesome, upbeat, and joyous one. She was a great conversationalist, and loved the simple and good times with friends and family.

Her survivors include loving husband Richard; son Richard James “Jimmy Joe”; daughter Katrina; grandchildren Korey, Destiny, Sebastian, Zoie, Krystopher, Richard, and William; her father Jim; step-mother Vivian; brothers Jim and Johnny; sisters Linda, Kathy, Laurie, Candy, Mary, and Barbara; and her dog Maggie.

Pat is preceded in death by her mother Doris; step-mother Maxine; and brother Joey.

Pat's courageous battle with cancer in her final weeks provided inspiration to the family and friends who will miss her always.  May Pat rest in peace, knowing and embracing the love for her that we will continue to carry in our hearts.

An inurnment will be held on Saturday, January 30th at 3:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave. and “T” Street, Salt Lake City.

Friends may call upon the family at a wake on Saturday, January 30th from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics.
