Connie Mascarenas Campos

Connie passed away in the early morning hours of December 28th, 2009 after struggling with Pulmonary Fibrosis while surrounded by her loving family.   

She was born on February 15th, 1934 in Montrose, Colorado to Maria Anna Lovato and Samuel Mascarenas.  She and her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she graduated from West High School in the class of 1953.  She married Ray Campos on November 21st, 1953 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  She was a member of a charitable sorority Beta Sigma Phi and also regularly attended Bible Class.  Connie was a spiritual woman who was very devoted to her Catholic faith.  She was a loving mother to her seven sons and to many others.  She was considered an angel by many and was loved by all whom she touched.  

She leaves behind her husband of 56 years; sons Rod (Deborah) Campos, Larry (Teri) Campos, Kevin (Ann) Campos, Terry Campos, Jeff (Heidi) Campos, Nick Campos, Jim LeVasseur; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings Juanita (John) Rutherford, Samuel Jr. (Virginia) Mascarenas, Anna Marie Caputo, Richard (Kristine) Mascarenas; and sister-in-law Carolyn Mascarenas.  

She is preceded in death by her son David Joseph; parents; and siblings Martha Smith, Edward Mascarenas, Silverio Mascarenas, Frank Mascarenas and Deloras Mascarenas.  

A viewing will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 30th at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah where the vigil will begin at 7:00 PM. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 31st at 10:00 AM, also at the church.  Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave. and “T” Street, Salt Lake City. 

The family would like to thank Rev. Jan Bednarz for his spiritual guidance and friendship, Hospice for Utah, who were special angels to our mother, and to her sorority sisters and bible class members.
