Dr. Nick Mihalopoulos died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 13, 2018, after a valiant effort to overcome esophageal cancer.

Nick was born January 5, 1931 in Magna, Utah to George and Marika Mihalopoulos. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1949 and then went on to the University of Utah where he earned several bachelor's and master's degrees, including pharmacy, and a PhD in psychology. He attended the University of Connecticut where he spent 6 years doing research in pharmacognosy and developed Devrom, a product that has improved the lives of thousands of people. Nick was a lifelong student. His greatest educational aspiration was to finish medical school after many attempts, the last in July 2017.

He married Suzy Hutcheson in 1969 and together they built and grew Parthenon Company, Inc., now run by their son, Jason.

Nick loved life and was happy to talk with anyone he ran into along the way. He was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting reproductions of the masters, the most recent being Da Vinci's Last Supper. He was an entrepreneur, inventor, creative chef and seasoned traveler who could judge the quality of a hotel by the lobby bathroom. He enjoyed coffee and banter with many good friends at Java Jim's, Ogie's, Starbucks, Rich's Bagels. He and Suzy were a dynamic duo entertaining friends and family, especially at his famous scone parties. They raised good kids in the late 20th century, a rare and noble thing in addition to all his other accomplishments.

Nick will be remembered as the family patriarch, serving as a lifelong mentor and role model of what it means to live a full life of curiosity, love, humility and grace. Above all, he loved his family.

Nick is survived by his wife, Suzy; children, Dr. Nikki Mihalopoulos (Joshua Scoville) and Jason Mihalopoulos (Staci); grandchildren, Efthalia, Persephone, Veroniki, and Prometheus Rock; godson Steve Alfieris (Fotini); sisters, Melva Vetas and Ellie Korologos; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gus Vetas.
