Linda Joy Updyke

Linda Carlson Updyke passed away quietly in her sleep with her loving husband by her side on November 16, 2017. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT on February 21, 1948 to John Albert and Joy Irene Carlson. She was married for close to 50 years to her life-long love and partner, Daniel E. "Sandy" Updyke.

Linda was intensely family oriented, working diligently for 30 years to raise her four boys, while also dutifully caring for her elderly mother. She was a great collector of fabrics, florals, botanicals, and other objects of interest gathered from her travels. She enjoyed shopping, bowling, shopping, golf, shopping, drives in the country, and was forever delivering creative packages to her grandchildren, never missing a birthday or holiday.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Carlson. She is survived by her devoted husband; her four sons Chad (Justine), Chris, Cory (Michele), Cody; her four grandchildren Oliver, Solvi, Kai, and Lila; her brother Steve (Debbie); and sister-in-law Jerrie.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E. SLC, UT. Guests are encouraged to use the entrance on the north side of the building. The family would like to thank all those who were so supportive during her lengthy 6-year battle with cancer.
