Matthew passed away on September 18, 2016 at home. He was born to John Earl Huffman and Jessica Ann Moravec on October 3, 1977 in Gallup, New Mexico. During his early years, his family lived in New Mexico and Wyoming. In 1984, the family moved to Tooele, Utah where Matthew went through elementary school, made his First Communion, and participated in soccer, football, and baseball. In 1989 he transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Salt Lake City commuting from Tooele on a daily basis. After his parents divorced and his father remarried in 1990, he moved to Salt Lake City.
After graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes School, Matthew entered Judge Memorial Catholic High School. The following four years proved to be some of the most fulfilling years of his life. He played on the football team his freshman and sophomore years but realized he wasn't a football player even though he loved the game and his teammates. With his true "Judge spirit" he chose to be the football manager so he could stay with the team. In his senior year he was chosen as Homecoming King and was nominated for the Christ the King award.
He went on to the University of Utah where he was a manager for the Utes football team for one year. After changing his major several times, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2004.
Matthew loved music and spent many hours with his iPod and head phones listening to classic rock. As much as he enjoyed his music, his greatest loves were Judge Memorial Catholic High school (especially the football team) and the Denver Broncos. He seldom missed a Broncos game and especially enjoyed their three Super Bowl wins. Two of his favorite memories were when he and his father attended a Broncos game at the old Mile High Stadium for his twelfth birthday and the Broncos and Forty Niners game he went to with his Uncle Jim Moravec at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
Matthew was preceded in death by His grandparents, his mother, Jessica Moravec Huffman, his Aunt, Lynn Moravec Roberts, His Uncles William Huffman, Robert Huffman, and David Huffman.
