Robert Joseph Todd

Our father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on August 23rd, 2016. Bob was born May 7th, 1940 in the Village of Malone, NY to Robert and Helen Todd. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Master's Degree in Engineering. He also served in the U.S. Army. Bob loved tennis, chess, studying law, reading, politics, the outdoors, and his family. Bob spent the early part of his career at the U.S. Forest Service and later at UDOT. He loved to ski at Alta and once he came to Utah to ski, he never returned back home to NY.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Josh) Staley; grandson Maxwell Staley; brother Kenneth Todd; and many people who he considered his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Robert Todd and sister Mary Todd. We ask that you stop by and re-tell the stories he can no longer tell.

A celebration of life for Robert J. Todd will be held on Saturday, September 3rd from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.

Our family has a long history of depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Michelle, Bob's daughter has devoted her life/career to helping those with mental illness because she wants to help people like her father and her aunt Mary. Bob contributed regularly to the Southern Poverty Law Center. There is also a history of heart disease in our family. Please consider helping others like my father did, and continue his legacy.

We were all blessed to have Bob in our lives. Let us remember him and the light he brought to each of us in his own way. Embrace and celebrate his life and the memories we have.
