Francis left us on July 25th, 2016 doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle. He was the strength of our family. The love he gave us, he also shared with many others. Francis was one to provide strength when others couldn't be strong for themselves. We are overwhelmed, but not surprised, at all of the love and attention Francis has received on Facebook - it is very clear how special of a person he has been.

Francis was born in New Guinea on December 20th, 1960. Francis embraced everyday and everyone. When he was with you, he made you feel like you were the only one. The most special and his beloved. He kept in conscious contact and presence daily with so many people and remembered them, held them and walked with them through their troubles and celebrations. He was all encompassing, sel ess and compassionate. He additionally wins the blue ribbon award for taking so many sel es with so many people, thankfully. He lived every single day. Not one day was wasted. He will be sorely missed in the recovery, art, outdoor, gay, and Polynesian communities. His gardens are everywhere and will continue to grow as he himself will always be
with us inside, blooming in our hearts.

He is survived by his mother Mary Katoa; father and stepmother
John (Sjouk) Mackenzie; sisters Rina (Juan), Yvonne, Mary and Betty (Milco); brothers Frank (Sarah), Danny (Viren), Lynn, and Joe; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, whom he loved dearly; and adopted children Josee, Marco John and Maximus Stetich. Francis will be truly missed, but will forever be in our hearts. Until we meet again... "I love you man".

A viewing and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
