Georgios Armaou, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born on June 13, 1926 in Nafplion, Argolidos Greece. He married Panayiota Kaskampa on August 30, 1953 in Greece. He was employed by the railroad in Greece for 33 years. As a youth, he would fish professionally with his father, something he enjoyed throughout his life. He honorably served in the Greek Army from 1946-1949. During his time in America he made many close acquaintances while enjoying his morning coffee especially with Ted, Saki and Nonda. His life experiences allowed for many stories, whether from working on the railroad or World War II. Georgios was a kind man with a big heart which knew no bounds. Recipients of his kindness are many and much can be said about those who are grateful for having encountered him in their life. Rare was the time when there wasn't a smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Panayiota; son Yanni; brother Elias; sisters-in-law Ioanna (Ioannis Hanoumis), Stavroula Andreopoulou, Vasiliki Moutzouri, Maria Kaskampa; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the University of Utah Hospital staff, St. Mark's Hospital staff, Brian and the ladies at the Salt Lake Senior Clinic. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral on Thursday, May 26 at 11:00am. Viewing will take place one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgios' memory can be made to the Holy Trinity Campus. MASTORA KALO PARADEISO!
