Carolyn Mintz

Carolyn Mintz, loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend, died on March 28, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Carolyn was warm, funny, creative, and beautiful.  She loved her children and friends, and loved her connection to the community.  She organized class projects, group dinners, fundraising galas and hikes.  She loved mountain biking on the Shoreline Trail, attending the Utah Arts Festival, and buying local produce at the Farmer's Market.  She was a caring friend and was always up for outdoor adventure.  She was so proud of her talented children and so sorry that she wouldn't continue to be in their lives.

Carolyn was born on January 18, 1961 to Dr. Milford Charles and Dione Maloney.  She and her eight siblings grew up in Buffalo, New York. Carolyn followed her sister Rose to Utah and attended nursing school at Weber State College.  She was a nurse at University of Utah Hospital where she met Dr. Steve Mintz, with whom she had three children: Ryan, Jacob, and Jayme.  Although she and Steve later divorced, they remained good friends and committed parents.

Carolyn leaves behind broken hearted friends and family.  She was gentle, and funny, and private, and fragile.  We wish we would have known how fragile in time to help her.  Her hope was for people to be kinder to each other.

Please remember her with kindness, and keep Carolyn and her children Jayme, Jake, and Ryan in your thoughts and prayers.   In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Carolyn's name to the Sharing Place at http://www.thesharingplace.org.  Private services.
