On the evening of March 28, 2016, our beloved daughter, sister, "auntie" and friend was tragically and swiftly taken from us as the result of injuries sustained in a senseless automobile accident. Mandy was born in Salt Lake City, UT on October 16, 1976, the second child and the first daughter of Martha (Richard) Harward and Thomas (Kim) Streit.   Mandy was undeniably strong, persistent, tenacious and relentlessly positive throughout her 39 years. She overcame a multitude of obstacles, only to push forward and summit unscathed, always on top.  She had a profound hearing loss and learned to speak fluently thanks to the loving perseverance of her caring mother.  Mandy graduated from Park City High School in 1995 and Utah State University in 1999.  She combined her love of the outdoors with her generous and caring spirit providing services and support to individuals with disabilities, including the National Ability Center and most recently, Chrysalis.  She loved alpine and nordic skiing, road and mountain biking, and many other activities, including water skiing and fast boats with her dad. Her achievements included the 200 mile Logan to Jackson (Lotoja) bicycle race, the Great Ski Race (30K Nordic) in Truckee and many other endurance events. On Sunday mornings without fresh snow, Zumba was her new favorite way to cross-train.  She was featured in Z Life Magazine in 2013. Mandy will be remembered for her brilliant smile, unwavering optimism, and as a generous and steadfast friend.  Mandy is survived by her parents, Martha and Richard Harward of Park City, UT; Tom and Kim Streit of Hood River, OR; brother Tavener (Cara) Streit, niece and nephew, Stella and Levi, of Truckee, CA; brother Micah Freeman of Portland, OR; sister Sarah Harward of Salt Lake City, UT; lifelong friend and soul sister Kristen Schaub Lindahl and godson Otto of Boerne, TX; many extended relatives in Utah, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey; and countless dear friends.  Mandy, your "yee-haws" on amazing ski days or bike rides will continue to ring through our ears and will forever bring smiles to our faces.  You are so loved and missed. Her final gift, at her request, provides eyesight for another person. A Celebration of Mandy's Life will be held Friday, April 1st, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Please use complimentary valet parking on the north entrance of the building. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mandy's memory to Special Olympics at https://donate.specialolympics.org or the Park City Mountain Trails Foundation at http://mountaintrails.org/
