Douglas Ross Johnson died peacefully February 10, 2016 from natural causes.

Doug was born May 30, 1932 to Dorothy George and Ross LeRoy Johnson. He grew up in Salt Lake City. He graduated from East High School in 1949 and the University of Utah with a degree in Industrial Psychology in 1953. He married Barbara Cecil on June 11, 1953. They remained happily married for 57 years. He served our country proudly in the US Navy and Naval Reserves and retired as a Commander.

Doug was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi at the U where he made many lifelong friends. He was an active member of DOM, the Alta Club and the Country Club where he enjoyed his time as a member of the "Lost-Ballers." He and Babs loved entertaining at their beautiful home, including - badminton group, pool parties, and picnics at the Gazebo. He was very creative and loved working with his hands. His hobbies included building model airplanes and boats, painting, and woodworking. He could fix just about anything.

He owned and operated Continental Coffee Company for 40 years. He loved to joke that he could "sell coffee to the Mormons." He served as Board President for the Sugarhouse Boys and Girls Club where he oversaw the building of the inaugural club. He was a member of Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors at Nelson Ricks Creamery.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara. He is survived by his daughters Mary Jane Johnson (Mike Basquez) and Jennifer Foote (Dr. Mark C). He adored and was proud of his grandchildren Chas and Carol Foote. The family would like to thank many dear friends and relatives for their kindness throughout the years, especially Liz Keller, Tracy Smith, and Norine Foote.

A wake will be held in Doug's honor Monday, February 15th from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the valet parking provided on the north side of the building. Doug was laid to rest on Saturday, February 13th at the family graveside burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
