Barta was born October 7, 1953 in Pocatello, ID and passed away on February 4, 2016 in South Jordan, UT after a valiant fight with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

She attended Pocatello High School and graduated from Boise High School in 1971. She attended Boise State University and was a graduate of the University of Utah. She began her career at Unisys and then spent 27 years working at the University of Utah, most recently serving as Facilities Coordinator until her health forced her to retire.

She was a generous, loving and hilarious woman with the voice of angel and a laugh that made everyone smile. Barta could enter a room full of strangers and within the hour know everyone and their history.  She loved to read and loved to travel. Her most treasured trip was a tour of Vietnam and Thailand. She was known for her earrings, the bigger and flashier the better.

She is survived by her mother Margaret Brown; son Jacob (Stephanie) Jones; grandchildren Connor, Carson and Alexis; sisters Sharon Voegele, Karen (Matthew) Wilson; brother Roby (Teresa) Brown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Bartlett Brown; brother-in-law James Voegele; and grandparents.

Special thanks to Paula Maloof, for her guidance and support, Dr. Edward Zamrini, Dr. Matthew Moench, Steve, Natalie and Liz from the Hospice Team and the entire staff of Carrington Court Memory Care Center who took loving care of Barta.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 12th at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Please use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Barta's name to the Ronald McDonald House or the charity of your choice.

Everyone who knew Barta loved her, and to that she would say, "What's not to love"!
