Brilliantly blue-eyed handsome man, extraordinary mathematics teacher, old fashioned river runner, avid golfer, aspiring horseman, beloved father, brother and partner -- Gregory Hose passed away from complications due to cancer on  January 16, 2016 with family at his side.   Born in San Francisco, Greg was the son of Katie G. (Papez) and L.M.  Hose.   He lived his early years in Ely, Nevada and Boise, Idaho but called Salt Lake City home from second grade on.  He graduated from Kearns St. Ann School and Judge Memorial High School. Greg's undergraduate degrees and, most-proudly his graduate degree in Mathematics, were from the University of Utah.Greg knew early in life that he would be a teacher and his forty-year career included teaching at Valley High School, Hillcrest High School and most recently at West High School where in 2008 he was hired to head the Math Department as well as teach.  He touched thousands of Utah kids, affectionately calling them his "knuckleheads".  They gave him great joy, pride and allowed him to be a kid at heart too.Greg is survived by his daughter Elise Hose Peterson; partner Margery Parker and her sons Jeremiah,  Aaron and their families; step-children Nick and Mckenzie Kemp; brother Gary (wife Kris and sons Justin, Jon and Jason Hose and their families); and sister Tina (George Sumner).  Also survived and fondly remembered by his Aunt Eve (Alaska) and Aunt Pat (Nevada).  Greg's family want to express their love and gratitude for the circles of kinsfolk who shaped, supported and shared in his life. Friends and extended family are welcome to join in a celebration of Greg's life at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Please use the valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
