Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away July 16, 2015 of age related causes. He was born October 10th 1921 in Strool, SD. He Joined the U.S Army in 1942 and served his country until 1944 when he was honorably discharged with a purple heart.
After his military duty he married Evelyn Faye Ninow and they spent 69 years together. During these years they raised six wonderful children. Mat was a very involved father and enjoyed long drives, picnics and drive in movies with his family.
Mat was a long hall truck driver; he drove coast to coast for several years. His wife Faye became a part of the Sleeper team after their youngest child graduated from high school. They drove together for over ten years.
Mat had a wonderful sense of humor, great wit and a love for people.
He is survived by his wife, Faye and children: Beverly, Patty, Peggy, Vicky, Tom and Kim as well as eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by sons-in-law Stewart Johnson and Art Pitman as well as many other family members.
Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am July 23rd at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1929 South 2300 East. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and “T” street.
