Marty Hendry
November 3, 1947 - June 15, 2015
Arvin (Marty) Hendry passed away on June 15, 2015 in Tomball, TX, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Marty was born in Salt Lake City, UT, graduated from West High School in 1966, and later served in the US Army Reserves. Marty was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad before joining the Painters Union Local 77 for nearly 3 decades. Utah remained Marty's home until he moved to Texas in 2014 to spend time with his son and grandchildren in the Houston area.
Marty loved the Utah Jazz and Denver Broncos, enjoyed golfing and a wide variety of music, and adored animals. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones, who will always remember his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and rescue cat Dexter.
Marty is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan (Greenburg) Hendry, Tomball, TX; children, Angie Williams, Salt Lake City, UT, Marnie Farcone (Jerry), Dove Canyon, CA and Eric Hendry (Jill), Spring, TX; grandchildren, Brady and Kenzie Twitchell (Angie), Joe and Nick Farcone (Marnie), and Kenna, Hunter and Sloan Hendry (Eric); one great-grandchild, Arianna Twitchell; and siblings Karla and Cloann Hendry, both of Centerville, UT, and Ken Hendry (Janet), West Valley, UT.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents Arvin and Alice Hendry, of Salt Lake City, UT, and siblings Nancy, Tom, Lloyd and Pete Hendry, and Arvonna Sewell.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on July 25, 2015, from 4 to 6 pm, at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
