Mary Lucy Martinez

Mary L. Martinez, 91, passed away on May 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born to Daniel and Maria (Eulogia) Archuletta Martinez on July 16, 1923 in Saguache, Colorado, the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Salida, Colorado. Mary Moved to Ogden, Utah and married Melicendro Martinez April 23, 1944, who preceded her in death in 1982.

She was a long time resident of Ogden and was an active member of St. Joseph Church. She was also a member of Promoters of the Sacred Heart, Catholic Women’s organizations and a sponsor for two people in the RCIA. She was a Eucharist Minister for seven years. She served communion to patients in the hospital for 17 years. She retired from

Civil Service at Hill Air Force Base after 32 years of service.
She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and loved going to movies. Mary is survived by her children, Kathy (Kevin) Hammar, Albuquerque,

New Mexico; Mel (Denise), San Antonio, Texas; Joy, Valencia, California; Kenny (Karen), Salt Lake City, Utah and seven grandchildren, one step- grandchild, and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.

A funeral mass with be celebrated at St. Joseph Villa, 451 East Bishop Federal Lane, Salt Lake City on Saturday May 9th at 11:30 am with a celebration of her life following at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City from 1:00-3:00 pm. Interment will be at Washington Heights Memorial Park, Ogden, Utah
