Bruna Altimani Secco, age 97, died peacefully on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2015.

She was born in Reggio Emilia, located in northern Italy, in 1917 to Giovanni and Ida (Albertelli) Altimani. She spent her formative years helping in her family's photography business, and took up an interest in fencing, eventually becoming a contender for a spot on the Italian Olympic team. In 1952, she married Gino Secco in Nervi, Italy. They immigrated to the United States that same year, and two years later welcomed their daughter Diana into their lives. The family moved as Gino's career warranted, living in various cities including Miami, Chicago and Baltimore; summers were spent with her family in Italy. In 2003, they moved to Salt Lake City to be close to their daughter.

Family was the most important thing to Bruna. Her kindness and generosity made her someone who brought sunshine on rainy days, and springtime to the cold of winter. In an age full of anxiety and distress she brought serenity and peace. Her wisdom and approach to life benefitted each and every life she touched. She lived life to the fullest and was loved by all who met her. There is solace knowing she will be forever watching over and inspiring us all.

Bruna is survived by her daughter Diana Secco Dean (J. Michael); her grandchildren Stephanie (Bradley Hix), Christopher (Rebecca), and David (Angelina) Dean; her great grandchildren Ethan, Silas and Annabelle Dean, and Caelan Hix.

A remembrance will be held on Sunday, April 12th from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 13th at 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2315 Redondo Avenue, Salt Lake City.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation or the Pregnancy Resource Center of Salt Lake City.
