James passed away on March 19, 2015. He was born on April 22, 1966 in Houston, TX to William and Susan (Tindell) Walthall. He and his siblings were raised in Houston, Texas. In 1981, James moved to SLC where he immediately established new friendships and developed a love of the outdoors. He was an avid skier, and could often be found in the mountains with his four legged best friend Hal. When not outdoors, James could often be found in the SLC Bikram Yoga community. James had a genuinely kind soul and he had a bright, keen mind coupled with a very special sensitivity. He was always very helpful to those around him. He had a great sense of humor and made everybody around him feel good. James was a master painter. He ran his own business for approximately 15 years during which time he established relationships with builders and contractors who frequently engaged him on their projects due to his professionalism and cheerful disposition. 

James is survived by his mother Susan Lynn, two brothers Robert Walthall (Teri) of Bountiful UT, Andrew Valtal (Michelle) of Salt Lake City; one sister Lisa Rosenbaum (Phil) of Austin, Texas; and one half- sister Suzanne Davis of Land O Lakes, FL. He is also survived by his last love Heather Austin; nieces, nephews and dozens of amazing friends who brought him great joy and happiness. He is preceded in death by his father Bill Walthall and half-brother Bill Jr.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30th from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, followed by a celebration of life service at 4:00 PM also at Starks.
