Dixie Lee Baird Burningham

June 29, 1945 ~ March 10, 2015

Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister Dixie Lee Baird Burningham passed away March 10, 2015 at the age of 69. Her strength and endurance helped her survive 36 years with Parkinsons disease.

Dixie was born June 29, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Lois Allen and Lloyd Baird. She was the oldest of 6 children growing up in Brigham City, Utah. She enjoyed spending her summers at her grandparents farm in Corinne, Utah. She later moved to Bountiful, Utah where she participated in choir, musicals and graduated from Bountiful High school in 1963. Dixie had a love for music and was often heard singing around her home.

Dixie married David Craig Burningham on June 15, 1964 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and even through her trials she always maintained a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. Dixie was always grateful for what she had and she achieved her ultimate goal of becoming a wife and mother. She taught her children a love for people with special needs and was often seen holding one of her families many animals. She would know their personalities more then anyone. Being with family brought Dixie great joy when she went on motorcycle rides with Craig, camping in the west desert, or vacationing in Hawaii with her mother.

Dixie is survived by her five children, Becky, Brad, Brandon (Autumn), Brittany (Ryon), Beau (Jane), 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, her sister Deanna, and brothers Robert and Drew (Jo).

She was preceded in death by her husband Craig, her parents, her sister Janene, her brother Stephen, and her youngest son Shelby.

We want to give a special thanks to her very special daughter-in-law Jane for taking care of her for many years and to Shannon from Summit Home Health for her tender care. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Stark Funeral Home 3651 S 900 E, Salt Lake City, UT and graveside services will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 S Highland Dr, Salt Lake City.
