RHENDA REY HAUSEN POWER

Beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Rhenda Power returned to her Heavenly Father Wednesday the 7th of January 2015 following a four-year battle with cancer. Born in Pocatello, Idaho to Mary Joan Parkin and Donald Martin Hausen, Rhenda enjoyed an adventuresome childhood living in more than 10 different communities across the United States until her graduation from high school in Danbury, Connecticut in 1965. An accomplished musician and an exceptional singer, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Brigham Young University in 1970 and a Master of Education degree from the University of Utah in 1983. Her glorious soprano voice, frequently used in service, inspired and comforted many. After teaching voice at Rick’s College, Rhenda was employed as an elementary teacher by Salt Lake School district, completing 30 years of devoted service. Rhenda loved horses and spent many hours on her beloved Jubilee riding the Utah wilderness with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband, David Power with whom she spent 46 years creating beautiful music and an eternal family. She will be missed by their five children Derek (Brittany), Kirsten Rose, Garon, Karina (Spencer), and Weston (Trisha); and 10 wonderful grandchildren. Rhenda also leaves behind her mother, Mary Hausen; brothers Martin Hausen (Barbara), Richard Hausen (Leslie); and sisters Cynthia Graves, and Petra Anderton (Nate); and many beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Crescent View Ward, 10945 South 1700 East, Sandy, UT at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 10. The family will welcome guests in the Relief Society Room from 9:30 until 11:00 the morning of the funeral. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
