April 3, 1944 - December 15, 2014
Mom did not die unexpectedly; she knew she was going home for Christmas. She loved her family especially her grandkids; that is what she lived for. Her laugh could bring a smile to anyone's face. She made a friend everywhere she went. She will never be forgotten.
Survived by her children Mark Mitchell and Belen (Orlando) Avila; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph (Sophie) Humphreys; and sister Nora Mary (Carmen) Mancuso. Preceded in death by her husband Rafael Hernandez; parents Harry Patka and Maria Modesta; twin sister Modesta Eileen Patka; children Tim Mitchell, Harry Mitchell, Rafael and Thomas Hernandez.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 20th at 11:00 am, with a rosary at 11:30 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Committal service will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally warn out. Shouting holy crap what a ride!! Mom did just that. Love you Mama!
