Michael Stephen Camp, age 33, died unexpectedly at his home near Denver, Colorado on Monday, October 20th, 2014, of undetermined causes.
Michael was born on November 24, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada where he spent his childhood. His family moved to St. George, Utah in 1991. He graduated from Snow Canyon High School in 1999 where he played varsity basketball. He later moved to Salt Lake City and then to Denver, Colorado in 2006.
He married the love of his life, Lauren McCamis, on March 18, 2007. Together, they had two children, Talon (6) and Brielle (3). His life revolved around his family. He thought himself the luckiest man in the world and would never miss an opportunity to brag about his wife and kids.
Michael was 6ft 8in and always wished that he was taller. He was a talented athlete, his first loves being baseball and then basketball. Unlike most tall players, he was proficient at every position on the court.
Michael loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He had an "Eagle eye" for spotting wildlife. He spent most of his time raising his two children and was the most amazing Daddy!
Being the second of 8 children and oldest son he always felt a responsibility to care for and protect his siblings; and this he did well. They all loved him dearly and admired him. He was 100% loyal and reliable. If he made a commitment, you could depend upon him following through. He was ridiculously honest and trustworthy.
Michael was fun and witty, a leader and a trend-setter. He was indeed unique and a powerful personality who left an impression on all he came in contact with.
Michael is survived by his wife Lauren, son, Talon (6) and daughter, Brielle (3), his parents David Camp and Elizabeth and Daniel Smith, his brothers and sisters: Erin (Kenny) Worland, Regan (Teri) Camp, Dane (Katy) Camp, Elisa (Duke) Flowers, Brian Camp, Stefanie (Shane) Long and Clara Camp, his grandmother Barbara Wyson, 6 nieces and 12 nephews and many aunts and uncles.
Michael is proceeded in death by his uncle, and name-sake, Stephen Michael Camp (Stevie), his grandparents; Joseph Wyson, Irma and Jerry Camp and his nephew, Collin Worland.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00am at the "Tithing Hill" LDS chapel - 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton, UT. Visitation will take place prior to services from 9:30-10:45.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife Lauren or at gofundme.com/g5fmv8.
