Kenneth Warren Lund
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kenneth Warren Lund, or as most of his close friends and family called him, Ken, or Kenny. He passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years old on February 28, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. We take comfort knowing he is finally back with his love of his life and forever soul mate wife JoAnn Keele Lund.
Born July 18, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fern Etta Park Lund and Theodore Rosevelt Lund. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City.
During high school he enrolled in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Vet. During his career he owned a wrecking yard, worked at Kennecott, Nelson Bro’s construction, and a vast majority of his time he worked at Hafer’s Inc where he met several lifelong friends.
One of Ken’s many hobbies was the love for birds and pheasants. He had a major role in the Utah Pheasant Society and was one of only a few people to be able to obtain and successfully hatch an Impeyan Pheasant egg. He soon became a staple in the pheasant community and gaining the notoriety that he always deserved by achieving what many thought was impossible at the time. His back yard was converted to a bird sanctuary where he would care for all types of birds and pheasants. Ken loved gardening and had an amazing garden where he would spend countless hours every day making sure everything was perfect and growing to his strict standards.
Ken had many passions in life besides his family, listening to old time country music, fishing, hunting, going to Wendover, going on cruises to Alaska with his wife and daughter, working on anything with a motor and wheels, and having his famous “almost” weekly summer yard sales with his sister. His vast amount of knowledge about motors, parts and vehicles was astounding. From Model Ts to Ford F350’s he knew and owned it all. There was nothing he could not build or fix.
Ken Married the love of his life, JoAnn on October 29, 1957. They had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary when JoAnn suddenly passed away on December 6, 1995.
Ken was a very kind, thoughtful and loving man. The number of stories he had to tell were endless and he could start a conversation with anyone at any age. He would frequent his daughter and sons-in-law pool parties and go above and beyond to make sure everyone was acknowledged even if he never met the person. He had a giant heart and would help anyone he ever met. The amount of people he taught and helped is endless.
Ken leaves behind a heartbroken family - his children Tom,
Bruce (Rhonda), Brenda and Janice. Grandchildren - Bruce Jr (Lindsay), Jen, Kenny (Amber), Timmy. Great-grandchildren – Lexie, Codi, Jax, Gage, Nova – who he called noise. Great-great grandchildren – Arabella, and Everett. His sister Florence and lots of fur babies he loved like family.
Ken was predeceased by his wife, parents, son-in-law Shaun, granddaughter Brooklyn, and various other relatives.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 12pm - 2pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building. Followed by a procession to Larkin Sunset Gardens at 10600 S. 1960 E. Sandy, where we will lay Ken to rest with his wife JoAnn.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Sara Boss and Archie Guerrero for the support and compassion they provided during the last couple weeks of his life. We would like to thank everyone for their kindness and sympathy during our time of loss. It gives us much comfort to know that you are thinking of us as we grieve our father’s death.
Our lives will never be the same – our brightest light has gone out. He will be so desperately missed by so many, leaving a void that will never be filled. We know his beautiful soul is all around us, taking care of us from the other side now.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, March, 4, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building. Graveside service will follow at Larkin Sunset Garden Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy.
