James B. McBroom

Our beloved partner, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend peacefully passed away January 8, 2023. We miss his kind and generous heart.

Born January 19, 1954 to Ralph A. and Mary Maher McBroom, Jim was an eternal optimist and “Avenues” kid.  Graduated from the Cathedral School, where he met his lifelong friend, Peter Grisley (62 yrs.), Judge Memorial High School, where he met Bill Soltis (52 yrs.) and the University of Utah, Tennis Scholarship. Jimmy Mac’s love for tennis brought Drew Sweet (55 yrs.), the Mathesons and many others into his life. Successful in the financial world. Passing the Series 7 and 9 Investment Certifications in the 90-percentile making him the brightest bulb in the box. From “sits on a Ritz” to “Spud”, Jim touched many lives.

Survived by Suzanne Hata (46 yrs), big brother, Ralph and sister, Anne Marie, aunt Sr. Julie Maher, SFCC, cousins, nieces, nephews and all who loved him. Preceded by parents, brother, Bobby and sister, Mary Catherine.

Please join us to celebrate Jim’s life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, January, 17, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Japanese Church of Christ, 268 West 100 South. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM at The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple where a rosary will begin at noon.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jim’s memory to The Cathedral of the Madeleine and be kind to those in need.
