Blaine Smith Bowlden

January 28, 1939 - June 10, 2022

Blaine Smith Bowlden was born at home on January 28th, 1939 to a father he admired (James Anthony Bowlden) and a mother he loved greatly (Virginia Smith Bowlden). He passed away June 10th, 2022 surrounded by his children.

Blaine was the fifth of six children. He attended Hamilton Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, and East High School from which he graduated in 1958. Blaine went on to be a paratrooper in the military. He then started a very successful business in his twenties, Bowlden Business Systems, Inc., working vigorously until he retired.

He married the love of his life, Carolyn Rose. They adored and cared for each other for over sixty years, and loved their five children, eight grandchildren, and great grandchild dearly.
Our Dad was genuine and kindhearted. He made friends, family and strangers alike feel welcomed and at ease.

Blaine was a funny and talented storyteller, through which he described his many adventures throughout his life. Through traditions of visiting Brighton, St. George, boating and fishing at Flaming Gorge, and traveling West with his family, he has brought us many memories. Blaine found joy and luck in Wendover many times, a fun and exciting getaway with Carolyn.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Blaine and Carolyn’s neighbors and friends for their continual generosity and love.

Friends are invited to greet the family at an open house on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to park on the north side of the building.  Please share your memories and photos with the family on this page.
