Celia Rubulcaba Valdez, 96, passed away in her sleep at home on May 13th, 2022. Celia was born at home on December 23rd, 1925 in Olathe Colorado to Margarito Rubalcaba and Ysabelita Archuleta. Heaven is a much nicer place with her there; she is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She had a deep abiding love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to feed her family and will be teaching her fellow angels how to make tortillas and green chili. Her family knew that no matter what they did her love was constant and she would be there for them.

As a young girl, she would make a stack of tortillas three times a day for her family to feed them when they came in from working in the fields. As she got older, she would work in the onion fields planting weeding, and harvesting. She worked until she was 85 as a bookbinder at Hillers bookbinding.  She had a deep and abiding love for God. She was a faithful Catholic and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

She was first married to Johnny Valdez, deceased, and together they had two children: Helen Hansen and little Johnny. After Johnny passed, she married George Valdez, deceased, and had two children: Georgiana (Troy) Callahan, and Rebecca (Grant) Eagar. She has also been blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will no doubt be watching over them from heaven.

She was blessed to be part of a large and loving family; she was preceded into death by her parents and her brothers: Frank (Mary), Benjamin, Ralph (Jane), Wilfred (Della), and Paul (Genevieve). Her sisters Virginia (Ben) Medena, and Margaret (John) Valdez. She is survived by her sisters Annie (Joe) Aragon, Florence (Lawrence) Arellano, and Isabel Aragon.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Home Care and Hospice for their kind and loving support as well as her caregivers Delores and Tina.

A  rosary for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 6:00pm with a viewing to follow from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South, 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
